How to Build Engagement on Your Clinic’s Instagram

Posted on September 11, 2025September 11, 2025 by admin

Instagram isn’t just a place to showcase your results — it’s a platform to build relationships. For aesthetics clinics, real engagement (comments, saves, shares, and DMs) matters far more than vanity likes. Engagement is what tells the algorithm your content is valuable, and it’s what builds trust with followers who could become patients.

So how do you turn a passive audience into an active one?

Ask, Don’t Just Tell

One of the simplest ways to spark engagement is to ask questions. Too many clinics post content that talks at followers instead of talking with them. A simple prompt like “What’s the one thing stopping you from booking Botox?” or “Do you prefer subtle or dramatic lip filler results?” can transform a scroll into a conversation.

Questions open the door for interaction — and the more people respond, the more Instagram shows your content to others.

Use Interactive Features

Stories aren’t just for behind-the-scenes glimpses — they’re built for engagement. Polls, quizzes, and sliders invite quick responses that boost visibility. They also give you valuable insight into what your audience is thinking.

Try:

  • A poll: “Would you try Profhilo? Yes/No.”

  • A slider: “How ready are you for a skin refresh? 😴 ➝ ✨.”

  • A quiz: “How many people search for lip filler every month in the UK? (Hint: over 40k!).”

These tools make your followers feel involved and valued.

Mix Content Types

Engagement grows when your content feels fresh. If every post is a before-and-after, your audience will get bored. Mix it up with educational explainers, myth-busting reels, testimonials, and staff spotlights. Different people engage with different types of content — variety means you reach more of your audience.

Show Personality

A polished feed is important, but don’t lose the human touch. Patients want to know the people behind the clinic. Show your team, share a day-in-the-life, or post a light-hearted reel. Personality creates connection — and connection drives engagement.

Don’t Forget the Call to Action

If you don’t ask for engagement, you won’t get it. End posts with prompts like:

  • “Save this for when you’re researching treatments.”

  • “Tag a friend who’s considering this.”

  • “Comment with your biggest skincare challenge.”

These small nudges make a big difference in how your followers interact.

Consistency Builds Momentum

Engagement doesn’t happen overnight. It builds with consistency — showing up regularly, replying to comments, and joining conversations. The more reliable and active you are, the more your followers will engage back.

Instagram engagement isn’t about luck — it’s about strategy. By asking questions, using interactive tools, mixing your content, showing personality, and guiding followers with CTAs, you can create a feed that sparks conversations and builds trust.

At APM, we create social media content strategies designed to do exactly that. From animated adverts to branded post templates, we give clinics the tools to grow their engagement — and their bookings.
